Newspapers: The Times (London)

The Times

"The Times  is the great paper of record. It is the best available account of what went on in the world on a particular day until we get the definitive report by the Recording Angel, when the crooked facts shall be made straight, and the rough places plain."

Howard Phillip, We Thundered out: 200 Years of The Times 1785-1985. (Maplewood, N.J.: Hammond, 1985), 174.

Searching the Times

In searching the Times, researchers have a few options:

  1.  Search directly by date.
  2. Use The Official Index to the Times, as seen above. The library has a complete run of the index from 1914 to 1943.
